I was fortunate to have a mother that let me use her sewing machine at a young age. 14 years old,I made my own clothes.I am self taught.
I started quilting 20 years ago. I was never comfortable following a pattern or rules.
Since we lived in Spain, the selection of nice cottons were hard to find,so the need for making my own cloth came up. I started experimenting with textile paint on white cotton. It turned out that it was so much fun;it gave me a whole new freedom.
Finding out how to make my own cloth inspired me to make art quilts. At about the same time I found out how to make curvy lines successfully.
And it is still the colors and shades in the cloth I make, that inspires me.But also observing the nature and life around me.
